Rev. R.L. Bush and The Revived Sons represent the enduring power of gospel music—where every melody carries a testimony and every performance serves a greater purpose. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rev. Bush discovered his spiritual calling during childhood and has now spent more than 20 years serving through ministry and music. Supported by 16 years of educational training, including a divinity degree, he has built a journey founded on faith, discipline and a sincere desire to transform lives.
His musical foundation was established alongside some of gospel’s most respected names. Rev. Bush began as a drummer with Clarence Fountain and The Five Blind Boys of Alabama before performing with the Lumzy Sisters of New Jersey. His journey also brought him together with the Pilgrim Jubilees, Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lights. After recognizing the extraordinary potential of his voice, Doc McKenzie encouraged him to fully embrace his gift as a singer, opening the door to performances with Spencer Taylor and The Highway Q.C.’s, the Flint Cavaliers and The Jackson Southernairs.
Today, Rev. R.L. Bush and The Revived Sons stand among the celebrated voices of traditional gospel. Their growing collection of honors includes Song of the Year at the Newsome Awards, Quartet of the Year at both the Avidity Gospel Music Awards and Gospel Choice Music Awards, and National Male Group of the Year at the Texas Gospel Music Awards. Additional recognition from the Praise Factor People’s Choice Awards and Gospel Sound Music Awards reflects the group’s vocal excellence, musical impact and continued influence within the gospel community.
Beyond the awards and distinguished stages, their greatest achievement remains the people touched by their ministry. Rev. Bush views his voice as a gift entrusted to him for the service of others, using song and biblical truth to spread hope, love and encouragement. Alongside The Revived Sons, he continues to honor gospel’s treasured foundations while carrying its message boldly into the future—proving that music rooted in genuine faith will always possess the power to revive hearts and restore souls.
