Founded in Vallejo, California in 1989, the Funky Aztecs, featuring original members Merciless, also known as Merc100Man, Sapo Loco or Suga Ray, and Indio, otherwise known as Oh Mighty Ric, are considered groundbreakers in the realm of hip-hop and rap. Their first album, "Chicano Blues," garnered over 400,000 sales and included collaborations with celebrated artists like Tupac Shakur, Digital Underground's Shock-G and Money-B, Pee-Wee of Dangerous Music, TMD, and several others. In 1997, Sapo Loco exited the group to go solo, but the roster was soon replenished with newcomers Juego (the original Game) and Mainey Mo. The Funky Aztecs are recognized as pioneers in Chicano rap and have a discography that spans three albums: "Chicano Blues" in 1992, "Day of the Dead" in 1995, and "Addicted" in 1998, each featuring collaborations with iconic artists and producers.
